چکیده
This paper investigates the nonlinear soil–pile–structure interaction employing three-dimensional finite element models verified with results of large-scale shaking table tests model pile groups-superstructure systems. The responses piles in both liquefiable and non-liquefiable soil sites to ground motion varying intensities were evaluated considering kinematic inertial interaction. calculated agreed well measured during events. numerical correctly predicted different deformation modes that exhibited experiments. analysis was then employed perform a parametric study evaluate effects on piles' response, Intensity characteristics. It found bending moment site increases significantly, compared site, due loss lateral support liquified soil, maximum occurs at interface between loose dense sand layers. contributes most moments top clay liquefied For larger diameter, distribution corresponds short (rigid) behaviour. In addition, saturated displace laterally as rigid body strong motions because base loses liquefaction. Finally, effect becomes more significant for higher elastic modulus.

buckling behavior of piles in liquefiable soils
in the realistic manner, piles are similar to the slender columns that soil around them acts as a lateral support. the piles situated in the liquefiable soil layers, loss their lateral supports due to the liquefaction resulted from the seismic ground motion. in this case, pile has the potency of axial instability similar to the unsupported columns. this instability can lead to the lateral buckl...
متن کاملEvaluation of seismic performance of pile-supported models in liquefiable soils
The seismic performance of four pile-supported models is studied for two conditions: (i) transient to full liquefaction condition, i.e. the phase when excess pore pressure gradually increases during the shaking; (ii) full liquefaction condition, i.e. defined as the state where the seismically induced excess pore pressure equalises to the overburden stress. The paper describes two complementary ...
متن کاملUplifting Behavior of Shallow Buried Pipe in Liquefiable Soil by Dynamic Centrifuge Test
Underground pipelines are widely applied in the so-called lifeline engineerings. It shows according to seismic surveys that the damage from soil liquefaction to underground pipelines was the most serious, whose failures were mainly in the form of pipeline uplifting. In the present study, dynamic centrifuge model tests were conducted to study the uplifting behaviors of shallow-buried pipeline su...
متن کاملParameters Analysis of the Covering Soil of Tunnels Constructed In Liquefiable Soils
Earthquake and its catastrophic failures has been one of the disturbance worry of Civil Engineers. In geotechnical science, liquefaction is one of the most important phenomenons induced by earthquake. A change in pore water pressure follows a change in effective stress, and in a critical state in which pore water pressure equals the total stress in soil particles, soil strength is suddenly lost...
